Located not far from Republique this winebar/bistro with a nice terrace on the streets of Paris creates a nice initial impression. Yesterday the place was busy and alive. When I get to any bar especialy in Paris I check the toilets... What you take for granted in many other countries can still be a big surprise in France. The toilet was ok. Pfew :). I like the inside of the bar which doubles as a shop where you can purchase a bottle and drink it in the shop (They add 6 euros to the price of the bottle). The selection is small but nice. From most regions of France you can find a nice bottle. They do not have a lot of aged wines but hey all together this is a nice option to have. The gentlemen in the shop helps you select the bottle and provides a good advisory service. The same goes for the food on offer. The  team is passionate about wine and food. I really like the cheese and sausage platters. The waiter explained which cheeses were on the platter. Excellent. The wine arrived chilled to the correct temperature. Excellent. If it werent for those darn horrible wine glasses. It would have been so much better.

Negative

  • They use vacuvin to keep the wines overnight that are sold by the glass. The test Riesling I ordered was petty awful and passed its prime
  • Horrible wine glasses that do not offer a great wine experience. You get better glasses from IKea for 2 euros a piece.

Positive

  • Good Wine advice in the shop
  • Delicious plates of food
  • Wine chiller to quickly bring your bottle to the right temperature (Pre-chilled would be better)
  • The team loves wines and food!

Conclusion

This is  wonderful wine bar with  a lot of potential. Upgrade the glasses. Use a better system to store your wines overnight if you need too(I advice against it as with many wines you loose too much unelss you have a good preservation system). Reds by the glass are served too warm. But the staff is fiendly, food is very good and they have a good selection plus pretty fair prices. I will be back to see how this location develops. This is good wine bar with some basic flaws which can be rectified with ease.
