Leoville-Poyferré has been at the forefront of wine making for a long line. The introduced the growing of smaller fruit. They clean their barrles with a sulphur solutions. In the old days these ideas were considered a little crazy. In the old days the winery had a size of over 200 hectares. Over the years the winery has reduced in size and finally purchased by the Cuvelier family in the 1920's. The Cuvelier family has a long history in the Bordeaux wine trade dating all the way back to the early 1800's.
